Our Association
The Multnomah County Master Gardener™ Association (MCMGA) is one of many chapters of the Oregon Master Gardener Association, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization (EIN 30-0064570). We are trained volunteers, educated through OSU Extension Service to offer our community reliable, relevant, and reachable gardening information and education opportunities.
MCMGA’s mission is to share research-based knowledge with the public to promote sustainable gardening practices. Our work supports and enhances the Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener™ Program. We endeavor to fulfill our mission by:
- Sponsoring garden education events and activities for the public and our members Speaker Series
- Demonstrating and teaching sustainable gardening techniques in the community Demonstration Garden
- Promoting food security through our educational and donation efforts
- Conducting major fundraisers which offer quality plants to our members and the public
- Supporting the OSU Extension Master Gardener Program - Volunteering at OSU Extension offices, community Farmer’s Markets and at Master Gardener events and answering gardening questions for the homeowner.
- Providing financial support, including scholarships to Master Gardener Training.
