Join our January Speaker Series as Shantae Johnson, Mudbone Grown, discusses food justice and food sovereignty. Shantae will also share the vision and mission of Mudbone Grown/Unity Farm which she co-manages with Arthur Shavers. Mudbone Grown is a black-owned farm enterprise that promotes inter-generational community-based farming that creates measurable and sustainable environmental, social, cultural, and economic impacts in communities.
Shantae Johnson is a certified community health worker, doula, breastfeeding peer counselor, urban farmer and food justice warrior. She is a cultural bridge builder with strengths in community organizing, project management, and program creation with a public health lens. She is a parent, healer, chef, and referee to their six beautiful children.
Shantae has also been appointed to the Oregon Board of Agriculture by Governor Kate Brown. She will sit on the advisory committee to represent small scale producers.
